Velda B. Antes, 82, of Topeka, died Thursday, Feb. 22, 2007 at a local hospital.
She was born July 23, 1924 in Wilsonville, NE, the daughter of George W. and Ada Starling Starks of the Hiawatha and Horton area.
She worked at various jobs in the Topeka area and enjoyed crafts and painting.
She married Edward B. Antes on Sept. 26, 1946 in Oskaloosa, KS. He preceded her in death in 1977. She was also preceded in death by a step-grandson, Michel Kidney in 2006 and one brother and one sister.
Surviving are two sons; Kenneth E. DeBusk and wife Judith and Dennis F. Antes and companion Karen Hudson, all of Topeka; three step-children and fourteen step- grandchilden.
Mrs. Antes will lie in state after 3:00 pm, Monday, Feb. 26 at Penwell-Gabel Parker Price Chapel, 245 NW. Independence, where the family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 pm that evening. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday, Feb. 27 at the Powhattan Cemetery, Powhattan, KS.
