V. Beth Stratmann

V. Beth Stratmann, 76, of Topeka, died Saturday, January 22, 2005 at a Topeka hospital. She was born on September 30, 1928 in Dallas, Texas, the daughter of Arthur L. and Estelle Carpenter Summer. Beth graduated from Baylor University with a degree in nursing and worked in that field prior to meeting and marrying the love of her life Bert H. Stratmann on June 16, 1956 in Dallas, Texas. They were blessed with two children, Christopher Stratmann and Traci Bortz, both of Topeka. After her children were grown, she returned to the career she loved for another 15 years at Stormont-Vail. In addition to her husband and children, other survivors include her three precious grandchildren, Chad, Cody and Cayla Bortz. She is also survived by her big brother, James Summer and his children, John Summer, Deb Muth, Amanda Slavin, and Amy Summer. A celebration of Beths life will take place at Our Saviors Lutheran Church where she was a member for over 30 years. The service will be held on Saturday, January 29th at 11:00 a.m. Private inurnment will take place in Penwell-Gabel Memorial Park Cemetery.
