Twilla Mckee

May 15, 1936 — February 8, 2020

Twilla Loella (Standerfer) McKee, 83, of Topeka, passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2020.

Twilla graduated from Topeka High school in 1954. She retired in 1992 after working 25 years at Heifner Nursery & Garden Center in Topeka. She was an avid golfer and enjoyed gardening and traveling with her family. Twilla liked to stay busy during her retirement years and her passion for horticulture led her to work seasonally at Blackburn's Nursery. She also liked reading and spending time conducting genealogy research with her late sister, Steina Bessette. Also, during her retirement, Twilla developed a love for dollhouse miniatures and started her own business "Twilla's Tiny Treasures" in the early 1990s. Twilla was a member of the National Association of Miniature Enthusiasts (NAME) and the International Guild of Miniature Artisans (IGMA), and her work was featured in publications such as the Nutshell News Miniature Magazine. Twilla also enjoyed traveling nationwide to miniature conventions and she taught numerous workshops.

Twilla was preceded in death by her husband Robert McKee. They were married nearly 64 years. Twilla's survivors include their children, Sharon (John) Garrison, Bob (Cathy) McKee, and Meredith McKee (Jerry Hofman). Grandchildren: Hannah (Mark) Oxsen, Sam (Caitlin) Garrison, and Max Linenberger. Great-grandchildren: Savannah and Mac Oxsen.
