Twila L. Shideler, 81, of Keller, TX, formerly of Topeka, passed away on Wednesday, May 15, 2013.
Twila Lucille Shideler was born December 28, 1931, in Topeka, daughter of Paul Edward Dyer Whitlow and Leda Fidelia (Culbertson) Whitlow. She graduated from Washburn Rural High School in 1949. Twila worked for Pelletier's Department Store and Southwestern Bell. She was a member of First Christian Church, Topeka, where she was involved in Women's Fellowship. Twila was also a member of Airport Wives and the Shawnee County Home Demonstration Unit (HDU).
Twila was married on June 20, 1953, to Donald Ira Shideler in Topeka. He preceded her in death.
Twila is survived by her two daughters, DeAnn (Wynn) Johnson and Lisa (Rolla) Goodyear, of Southlake, TX; three grandchildren, Dr. Adam (Megan) Goodyear, Ashly (Christian Hunter) Pauley, and Andrew "Drew" Johnson; one step granddaughter, Jennifer (Tim) Watts; one great-grandson, Christian Matthew Pauley; and two step great-grandchildren, Kadence Watts and Carter Watts. She is also survived by her three brothers, Paul Edward "Bud" Whitlow, Jr., Panama City Beach, Florida; James Andrew "Jim" Whitlow, San Dimas, California; Clarence Robert "Bob" Whitlow, Tucson, AZ.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 22, 2013, at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. Twila will lie in state after 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 6:00–8:00 p.m.
