Tommy Adcock

Tommy G. Adcock, 52, of Topeka, passed away Easter Sunday, March 27 at Colmery- O'Neil Veteran's Hospital.

He was born August 29, 1952 in Ottawa, the son of William H. Adcock and Wynona Adcock Stewart.

He attended Ottawa public schools until he decided to enlist in the U.S. Navy. He was honorably discharged after three years of service due to a service related disability. He was a very devoted husband and stepfather and remained close to his five brothers and three sisters. He was a custodian at Susanna Wesley United Methodist Church for ten years until health issues forced his retirement. He was also active in the Day Treatment Center at the V.A. Hospital for over twenty years and will be greatly missed by his many friends there. He was especially fond of his dogs and was proud of the care he provided for them.

Tom touched the lives of eveyone he met, from waitresses to store clerks to the doctors, nurses and technicians who provided him with care in his final hours. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He married Sonya (Sunny) Hall on February 16, 1991 in Topeka. She survives of the home. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Other survivors include a stepdaughter, Michele Kirby, Salina; a stepson, Benjamin Kirby, Topeka; a stepgrandson, Tagger Weeks, Salina; five brothers, Bill Adcock, St. Louis, MO; Raymond Adcock, Baldwin City, KS; Jim Adcock, Chandler, TX,; Roger Adcock, Wichita Falls, TX; Lyle Adcock, Plato, MO; three sisters; Anna Schwartz, Topeka; Jane Harper, Shell Knob, MO; and Esther Hopkins, Lock Springs, MO., 19 nieces and nephews and 23 great nieces and nephews. He will be sadly missed by his father and mother in law, Robert and Evelyn Hall.

Mr. Adcock will lie in state after 5:00 pm Wednesday, March 30 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel where the family will receive friends and relatives from 6:30 to 8:00 pm that evening. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday March 31 at Susanna Wesley United Methodist Church with burial to follow in Mount Hope Cemetery.
