It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Tina Marie Weinkauf, 46, formerly of Emporia. She passed away Saturday, February 6, 2016, at Midland Hospice in Topeka, following a lengthy battle with heart disease.
She was born October 12, 1969, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Joe Lowe Gonzales and Hazel Marie Bennett. She graduated from Highland Park High School and held an associate's degree in applied science. She spent the last few years in Emporia with her children and fiancé, Victor. Tina loved being the life of the party. She was humorous and invited everyone in with open arms. She was fondly known as "Big Mama" to many.
Survivors include her fiancé, Victor Gutierrez; children, Brian "Sweet Pea" Bennett of Scranton, Ashley "Angel" Weinkauf of Emporia, Samantha "Princess" Weinkauf of Emporia, and Phillip "Baby Bear" Weinkauf of Emporia; mother, Hazel Bennett of Topeka; brother, Christopher Murphy of Topeka; sister, Theresa Eteyan of Topeka; grandchildren, Aries Lee and Lilly Noel; and a host of extended family.
She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Wynona Waga; father, Joseph Gonzales; and sister, Quina Halstead.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 4, 2016, at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Avenue, Topeka, Kansas 66604, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Topeka Cemetery.
