Thomas E. (Tom) Rohrer, 59, of Topeka, died peacefully May 22, 2004 at the Topeka Midland Hospice House.
He was born September 21, 1944, in Centralia, MO, the son of Donald J. & Ethlyn L. Holtwick Rohrer. He was a member of the Church of God Holiness.
Tom served in the United States Army 1961 through 1964. After getting out of the military Tom moved to Topeka, KS and worked three years for Berlin Wheeler, before accepting a position with Allstate Insurance as an Insurance Agent. He worked for Allstate Insurance for 35 plus years, retiring May 01, 2003. During his career he received many awards and Honor Rings.
Tom was an avid golfer and a member of the American Legion Post 1 of Topeka, KS for twenty-three years. He was a devoted husband and loving father and grandfather.
He married Judy Rohrer on December 31, 1966 in Chanute, KS.
Survivors include his wife Judy Rohrer of the home; two sons: Michael E. Rohrer, Englewood, CO and Matthew T. Rohrer, Topeka, KS; one grandson Derek M. Rohrer, Topeka, KS; mother Ethlyn L. Rohrer, Topeka, KS; two brothers Philip Rohrer, Modesto, CA and Timothy Rohrer, Merced, CA; and three sisters: Rebecca McNeely, El Dorado Hills, CA, Mary Bradford, Chapel Hill, NC and DeeAnn Wright, Wake Forest, NC and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Donald J. Rohrer and brother, Donnie J. Rohrer.
Mr. Rohrer will lie in state on Tuesday from Noon to 8:00 pm., at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town. Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 26, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. in Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Interment will follow in Penwell-Gabel Memorial Park.
