Thomas (Tom) Muther, Sr., died peacefully at an area adult care facility Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2007. He was born in St. Louis, MO on February 9, 1921. He graduated from Webster Grove High School in 1940.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1942 to 1945, with the 91st Division, attaining the rank of Private First Class. Awards include the Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, Army Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with Bronze Star, World War II Victory Medal, the Combat Infantry Badge, and the Expert Marksmanship Badge.
He was married to Marjorie Jean Tiffany on July 2, 1948.
He was a member of the Topeka Bible Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edmund Henry Muther and Claire Wood Muther; his brothers, Edmund Muther, Jr. of Athol, MA; William Muther of Edgewater, MD; Robert Muther of St. Louis, MO; Daniel Muther of Atlanta, GA, and his sisters, Claire Louise McBride of Palm Springs, CA, and Mary Miller of St. Louis, MO.
Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Muther of the home, children, Thomas W. Muther, Jr.; Kathie Crispin and husband, Jack; Barbara Haberkorn and husband, Mike; John Muther and wife, Nancy; Julie Blackman and husband, Don. Grandchildren include Jennifer Crispin and husband, Andrew Schnepp; Jessica Crispin, Melissa McConeghey and husband, John; Michael Haberkorn, Corey Muther, Penelope Crispin, Kiersten Muther, Katherine Haberkorn, and Kelsey Muther. Great Grandchildren includes Jefferson Crispin Schnepp, Isaac McConeghey, and Aileen McConeghey.
Cremation is planned. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 26 at Mount Hope Cemetery.
