Thomas Moore

Thomas Moore, 82, of Maple Hill, passed away Saturday, September 24, 2011.

Thomas was born May 8, 1929, in New Philadelphia, Ohio, son of Robert A. Moore and Ethel Mae (Warner) Moore Seavers. He enlisted in the US Army in 1946 and was honorably discharged in 1949. While he served in the Army, Thomas was a mail clerk on a train between Tokyo and Yokohama. Thomas moved to Topeka in 1958. He worked for Stormont-Vail Hospital, retiring in 1985.

Thomas was a member of First Southern Baptist Church and American Legion Post #400, Topeka. He enjoyed square dancing, gardening, hunting and fishing.

Thomas is survived by his wife Geraldine Moore, Maple Hill; daughter, Robin A. Hook, Portland, OR; sons, Tom Moore, Richmond, TX; and William Moore, Pearland, TX; stepchildren, Thomas Leach, Tonganoxie; and Shirley McDowell, Topeka; nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Robert G. Moore.

A Memorial Service will be held at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 28, 2011, at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
