Thomas W. Gigous, 79, of Auburn, passed away, Tuesday, January 31, 2006 at St. Francis Hospital.
He was born on July 7, 1926 in Tarkio, MO, the son of Earl and Faye Gigous. The family moved to the Topeka area during his teen years. He served in the U.S. Army from 1944-1946.
Tom married Edna Stang on October 6, 1946. She survives. Other survivors include their three daughters, Irene K. Hasenbank, Scranton, KS; Christy L. Rand, Beverly, MA; Cindy L. Halbett, Salem, MA; five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
He worked for the Santa Fe Railroad eight years and Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company 32 years, retiring July 1, 1986.
Tom enjoyed gardening, woodworking and was an avid fisherman.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 4, 2006 at the Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Mr. Gigous will lie in state after 12:00 noon Friday at the funeral home where the family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. that evening.
