Thomas E. Parker, 94, Topeka, passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2012 at McCrite's Plaza.
Tom was born May 13, 1918 in Whiting, the son of Hiram and Viva (Shell) Parker. He graduated from Dennison High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He worked for Goodyear in Topeka for 34 years, retiring in 1979 as a Production supervisor.
He was a member of Grace Bible Church.
Tom married Helen R. Garbe on August 13, 1942 in Valley Falls. They were married for 68 years and together they traveled extensively throughout the United States. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and baseball in his younger years.
Survivors include daughters, Lea (Jerry) Gerard, Topeka, Donna (Michael) Van Dyke, Topeka, Vicki (Brian) Boutwell, Wichita; 6 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife on August 23, 2010; two brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, November 19, 2012 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Tom will lie in state at the funeral after 1:00 p.m. on Sunday and visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.
