Thelma Dorothy Pearson

Thelma Dorothy Pearson, 98, passed away on January 24, 2021. Ms. Pearson was born February 7, 1922 in Seattle, Washington.
She was a 1940 graduate of Issaquah Washington High School and received a Bachelor of Music degree in piano at McPhail Conservatory of Music in Minneapolis, MN. She continued her music studies further another year at Julliard School of music in New York. In 1945 she joined the faculty of Stratford College in Virginia and taught there four years before leaving to join a faculty friend to establish Pearson and Harris Piano and Voice Studio in Richmond, VA. She belonged to Sigma Alpha, Iota, an international music fraternity. After moving to Topeka, she joined Grace United Methodist Church.
She is survived by two nieces in Highland Park, IL, one niece in Seattle, WA, one nephew in Marana, AR, and several cousins in Sweden.
At her request, Ms. Pearson was cremated. Inurnment will be in Highland Cemetery in Ottawa, KS. The family would like to thank Joyce Manthe for being Thelma's private nurse and caretaker for the last 8 years of her life.
