Thelma J. Kinder, 89, of Topeka, passed away Friday, October 16, 2009 at Midland Hospice House.
Thelma was born October 19, 1919 in Gainesville, MO, the daughter of Vernon S. and Beulah E. (Evans) Simmons. She graduated from Washburn Rural High School, Topeka.
She owned and operated the The Lovely Lady and Seacrest Beauty Salons in Topeka. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and past Worthy Matron of the Helena Chapter No. 210 Order of the Eastern Star.
Thelma married Floyd Kinder on July 15, 1940, in Topeka. He preceded her in death on March 26, 2001. Survivors include her children, Donald Kinder of Liberty Hill, TX, Linda Young of Topeka, and Cindy Merritt of Lecompton; six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
She is loved.
Cremation is planned. A private memorial service and inurnment at West Lawn Memorial Garden will be at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Care Hospice, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, KS 66606. Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel is assisting with arrangements.
