Thelma Buchanan

Early Sunday morning, March 5, 2006, Thelma Irene Buchanan left this world and went to join her husband and partner in eternity, Dale, who passed away in 2001. We know how happy they must be now. He's missed her terribly, as they had been inseparable since they were married in 1939. Their children, Sherry Coughlin and Mike Buchanan, were lucky to have had the best parents ever.

Thelma was born on July 28th, 1916, in Topeka, Kansas. She lived in Topeka nearly all of her life, graduating from Topeka High School, and then raising her family there with Dale. She was a true friend to so many people, all who will miss her dearly.

In addition to her children and friends, Thelma will be missed and remembered by her extended family: Grand-children Scott Buchanan, Tracy and Bill Thomas, Sean and Linda Buchanan, Chandra and Marc Ballbach, Claire Coughlin, and Molly Coughlin, plus great-grand-children Tasha and Will Thomas, Maya and Charlie Ballbach, and Blake Buchanan.
Services will be at 11am Wednesday at Central Presbyterian Church in Topeka, a church where Thelma's mother was a founding member in 1905, and attended by Thelma all of her life. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6pm to 7:30pm Tuesday at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 Southwest Tenth St, Topeka, KS.
