Thelma Agnes Schuster, 101, of Topeka, passed away on Friday, May 4, 2012 at Plaza West Health Center in Topeka. She was born December 23, 1910 in Stull, the daughter of Edwin A. and Edith B. Williams Schuster.
She was a life-long Topeka resident. Although she had several handicaps, including very limited hearing, by lip reading, she earned a basic education and lived independently. At an early age, she determined to follow Christ and was baptized in the Free Methodist Church where she was a member for over 50 years. On her 100th birthday, she held the longest membership in that church of anyone.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and two sisters. She has no known surviving relatives. Having a ready smile for everyone, she will be remembered by her friends and caretakers.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel where Thelma will lie in state one hour prior to service time. Burial will follow in Topeka Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the patient fund at Plaza West, 1570 SW Westport Dr., Topeka, KS 66604 or to the Topeka Free Methodist Church, 3450 SE Indiana Ave., Topeka, KS 66605.
