Theda L. Brown Gideon, 81, Topeka, died Tuesday, February 24, 2009 at Midland Hospice House.
She was born September 12, 1927 in Wilsey, Kansas, the daughter of R.T. and Theodosia Richardson Brown. She graduated from Yates Center High School and from Washburn University with a BS in Economics.
Theda spent her working career as a secretary for various companies, and prior to her retirement, was the secretary for the Seaman School District food service. She served on the Stormont-Vail Hospital Auxiliary and was a member of Alpha Phi Sorority at Washburn.
She married Clarence Gideon. They later divorced. Survivors include her children, C.J. Gideon, Jr. (Cecile) of Nashville, TN, Patrick R. Gideon (Karen) and Kerry J. Steed (David), both of Topeka; a sister, Maxine Lesline of Wichita; and eight grandchildren.
In keeping with her nature and her wishes, Theda donated her body to the University of Kansas Medical Center for research. A celebration of her life will be held from 6-8 p.m. Saturday, March 7 at the Capital Plaza Hotel.
