Thais M. Bruton, 92, of Topeka, KS, passed away on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 at Aldersgate Village.
She was born March 31, 1925 in Bloomington, Indiana, the daughter of Dr. R.T. and Naomi (Wampler) Wyckoff.
She married David W. Bruton in 1943. After being married 3 days they were separated for 3 years due to WWII. David died in 1967 while in active service.
Thais worked in the Finance Center for the United States Army for over five years. She was also the Head Jeweler for a fine jewelry store for several years.
Following her retirement she moved to Topeka in 1989, and loved volunteering at Topeka Performing Arts Center from the time it opened in 1991 until 2002. She also enjoyed volunteering at the Topeka Public Library and the Topeka Zoo. She took part in Active Prime Timers and Healthwise 55, and loved playing bingo and cards.
She was preceded in death by her husband; son-in-law Charles Griffin; and daughter Devise Pargen.
She is survived by daughters Sandra Griffin of Montgomery, Alabama and Carole (Randy) Denton of Topeka; grandchildren Michael Griffin, Michelle Householder, Leanna (Joel) Coon, and Dan (Julie) Denton; and great-grandchildren Mikey Abernathy, Austin Abernathy, Emily Denton and David Denton.
