Terry Neal Strickland, 75, of Topeka, passed away Saturday, August 7, 2021.
He was born November 8, 1945, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Clellon Strickland and Gladys (Griffin) Gregston.
He graduated from Highland Park High School in 1964 and attended Allen County Community College. He served as a CB in the Navy during the Vietnam War, where he served two tours before his honorable discharge.
Terry was a system analyst at BNSF Railroad, retiring in 2005. After retirement, he worked as an over the road truck driver for FedEx and Dart.
He was a member of Grace Point Church. Terry had also been a Boy Scout leader, rode with the Patriot Guard, taught Sunday school, supported and traveled on Mission trips, and sang gospel with the Sunrise Singers. He enjoyed cars and motorcycles, boats and skiing, guns and fishing, as well as building.
On June 8, 1968, he married Katherine (Kitty) Irene Lobingier in Topeka, Kansas. She survives. Other survivors include two sons, Brian (Melanie) Strickland and Scott (Angela) Strickland, and a daughter, Jaime (Jason) Cole; nine grandchildren, Andy Strickland, Alex Strickland, Aaron Strickland, Jason Schmidt, Skye Schmidt, Elyse Strickland, Shane Strickland, Devin Cole, and Carson Cole; four great-grandchildren, Joshua Strickland, Clara Strickland, Dawson Schmidt, and Kylie Schmidt; and two brothers, Ronald (Stan) Strickland, and Richard (Mary) Strickland and loving nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and infant sister, Evelyn Strickland and an infant brother, Ryan Strickland.
Visitation will be 10am Friday, September 3, 2021 at Mount Hope Cemetery & Funeral Chapel, with memorial service beginning at 11am. Inurnment with military honors will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery.
