Tara Lyman

Tara Lee Stilson Lyman, 26, Topeka, died Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2004 at a Topeka hospital following complications of the flu and pneumonia.

She was born Sept. 5, 1977 in Topeka, the daughter of Terry and Connie Norwood Stilson. She attended Faith Baptist Christian School, Cair Paravel Latin School, and graduated from Washburn Rural High School. She then attended Allen County Community College, Iola.

Tara had worked for WalMart in Iola and Topeka, and currently was employed at Target in Topeka, and was a member of Southwest Topeka Bible Church.

She married Aaron Scott Lyman on Sept. 23, 2000 in Topeka. He survives at home with their two sons, Trent David, age 5 and Nicholas Robert, age 3.

Other survivors include her parents, Terry and Connie Stilson of Topeka, two brothers, John Stilson and wife, Jackie of Topeka and PFC Zach Stilson and wife, Jamie of Ft. Riley, her in-laws, Dan and Lea Lyman of Topeka, grandparents, Louise Norwood of Lecompton, Jim and Gurtha McCrea of Ottawa, Martha Robinson of Joplin, MO, and Charles and Gloria Lyman of Prescott, AZ, brothers-in-law, Craig Lyman and wife, Bri, Kevin Lyman, and Clint Lyman. She is also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by grandparents, Robert Norwood, Ralph and Ruth Stilson, Robert Kuiken, and Lewis Robinson.

Services will be 2:00 pm Sunday at Southwest Topeka Bible Church. Graveside services will be 4:00 pm at Maple Grove Cemetery, Lecompton.

Tara will lie in state from 10 am Friday until 9 pm Saturday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. The family will receive friends from 7-8 pm Friday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Trent and Nicholas Lyman Educational Fund and sent in care of the funeral home, or to Capital City Bank.
