Susan Lydia Kennedy Wright, 56, Topeka, passed away Monday, Oct. 23, 2006. Life began for Susan on May 2, 1950 in Kansas City, Missouri, born to Dr. Haler E. Kennedy, who preceded her in death, and Treva L. Ragland Potter, who survives.
Susan married her high school sweetheart, Douglas S. Wright on June 3, 1971. They celebrated 35 wonderful and eventful years together. Her eyes would light up when talking about her children who also survive, Sara Wright of Prairie Village, KS and Adam Wright of Cheyenne, WY.
Family who survive include her brothers, Hal Kennedy, Jr. and his wife, Mary, Mike Kennedy and Janet Tenholder, step-father Eliot Potter, step-mother Patty Kennedy, step-siblings Barbara Potter, David Potter, Randy Wills and Jandy Wills, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Susan graduated from Topeka West High School and continued to Washburn University where she earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in the Latimore-Fink Medical Technology program. She worked as a Medical Technologist for 34 years in Topeka for St. Francis Hospital, the Cotton-O'Neil Clinic, Topeka Allergy Clinic, and Stormont-Vail Hospital.
She was a devoted health professional, avid Ichabod and Jayhawk sports fan, a member of the Delta Gamma Sorority, the Junior League of Topeka and First Congregational Church.
Memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Washburn University general scholarship fund.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. this evening at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at First Congregational Church.
Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery.
