Susan K. Lunsford, 74, of Topeka, passed away Saturday, May 6, 2023, at Midland Hospice after fighting a long and courageous battle with Parkinson's disease.
She was born January 24, 1949, in Kansas City, Kansas, the daughter of Kenneth and Imogene (Durham) Harding. She graduated from Oak Park High School in Kansas City, Missouri.
Susan was a television Traffic Director, coordinating commercial breaks on air for over 30 years. She was employed by KTWU, WIBW, Fox 43 and KSNT.
Susan loved animals, enjoyed watching movies and television, listening to music and traveling, especially with her husband Jan to Oregon and San Francisco, and to the Dakotas and Wyoming. She was a proud and avid supporter of the Kansas State Wildcats, Kansas City Chiefs and Royals. When she was younger, her mother owned a dance studio and Susan would often help teach dance lessons and create new choreography.
Susan married Jan C. Lunsford on July 11, 2004 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
She leaves behind her husband, Jan C. Lunsford; children, Christie (Ron) Hollenbeck, Russell Carver, Emilie Lunsford and Wendy (David) Lunsford-Baruth; grandchildren, Makenna Lunsford, Ethan Hollenbeck, Kaven Carver and Mavvie Baruth; siblings, Diane Traicoff and Ken (Kathy) Harding; and her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her grandson Jacob Hollenbeck.
A memorial ceremony will be held at Countryside United Methodist Church in Topeka, Kansas, on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at 1:00pm. Contributions can be made in her honor to Midland Care, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, KS 66606.
