Martha "Sue" Galbreath Wheat, 73 Years, of Topeka, passed away on July 4, 2021.
She was born December 25, 1947, in Gadsden, Alabama, the daughter of Fred Matthew and Bertie Lee (Campbell) Galbreath. She graduated in 1965 from Emma Sansom High School in Alabama.
Sue was employed by Landon Middle School and later worked for Kaw Area Technical College as an administrative assistant and retired in 2008.
She was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church, of Topeka and was active in their Bible study groups and the women's church group "Joy in the Morning".
Sue's family spoke about her love for food. She enjoyed eating good food and cooking good food. She loved spending time with her grandchildren baking cookies. Sue also enjoyed playing Bunko and sharing snacks with the group. Milton and Sue enjoyed traveling and especially their trips to Branson. She also had a passion for singing from a young age.
Sue married Milton Ray Wheat, Sr. on June 17, 1966 in Tuscaloosa, AL. They were married for 55 years. Survivors include her husband, Milton; children, Elizabeth Ann (Chris) Thompson, Milton Ray (Kristine) Wheat, Jr., and Patrick Scott (Erica) Wheat; and nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers; and five sisters.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Hashmi and the staff at the Stormont Vail Cancer Center, Midland Hospice Care and all the home health caregivers for their care and support.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Monday, July 12, 2021 at Mount Hope Cemetery, 4700 SW 17th Street, Topeka, Kansas 66604. The family will greet friends and family an hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made in Sue's honor to Midland Hospice, 210 Frazier Circle, Topeka, Kansas.
