Sue Waller Brown, of Topeka, passed away August 9, 2010 in Lawrence, Kansas at age 92. Sue lived over 52 years in Topeka along with her husband, Harold Brown who survives. Additionally, Sue is survived by 2 sons: Gary W. Brown (and Joyce) of Lawrence, Alan W. Brown (and Beth) of New Bern, North Carolina. She is survived by 5 grandchildren: (Justin Brown, Blair Brown, and Lindsay Brown Wiederman, all of Richmond, Virginia), Wendy Brown Baker (and Greg) of Shawnee, Kansas, and Jake Brown (and Kasi) of Lawrence. She also has 3 step grandchildren (Dustin, Darin and Matt Frost) and 4 great grandchildren and 3 step great grandchildren.
"Mimi" will be remembered for her love of music, and was an accomplished pianist and organist who often played for the Topeka Woman's Club and for her own enjoyment at home. She enjoyed painting pictures and traveling in her earlier years. Additionally, she enjoyed spending time with all her family.
The family would like to thank all those caregivers from Comfort Keepers, Hospice, Pioneer Ridge Nursing Home, Meals on Wheels, and Trinity Presbyterian Church, who were consistently dedicated to providing support for her over the last several years.
In keeping with her wishes, there will be a short, informal committal service at Mount Hope Cemetery (Topeka) in the Abbey Mausoleum Chapel at 10 a.m. on Thursday, August 12. Per Sue's request, there will be no public burial service. For those attending, there will be a reception shortly after the committal at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Topeka (4746 SW 21st).
