Sue Bell, 86, of Topeka, passed away Friday, March 17, 2023.

She was born September 5, 1936, in Whelen Springs, Arkansas, the daughter of Willis and Violet (Ursury) Shankles. She graduated from Gurdon High School.

Sue married Kenneth "Kenny" R. Bell on July 17, 1953 in Gurdon, AR. Kenny was drafted into the US Army, and so they decided to marry prior to him leaving. To their union, they welcomed three boys, Bradley, Gregory and Christopher. She had a house full of kids when her boys were younger because she had a home daycare. They enjoyed going camping as a family.

She began working outside of the home in 1987 as a CNA for Hearth Stone Retirement Community for 28 years and retired in 2015.

She was an avid reader and her love for books lead her to become a volunteer librarian at Gage Elementary. She also enjoyed listening to music, cooking and taking care of her cats.

Survivors include her three sons, Bradley Thomas Bell, Gregory George Bell and Christopher (Diana) Brent Bell; grandchildren, Amanda Bell, Christopher Bell and Warren Bell. She was preceded in death by her Husband, Kenneth "Kenny" R. Bell; her parents and siblings.

A Graveside Service will be 2:00 pm., Friday, March 24, 2023 at the West Lawn Memorial Gardens, 820 S.W. Auburn Road, Topeka. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial contributions may be made to the Sjögren's Foundation, 10701 Parkridge Blvd Suite 170, Reston, VA 20191 or BrightFocus Foundation, 22512 Gateway Center Drive, Clarksburg, MD 20871.
