Steven George Snider, 66, Topeka, passed away Monday, May 5, 2014.
He was born April 3, 1948, in Long Beach, California, the son of Chester and Charlotte (Saar) Snider. In 1966, he graduated from Van Buren High School in Van Buren, Missouri.
Steven was a U.S. veteran serving during the Vietnam War and Desert Shield/Storm.
During his career with the military where he was an aircraft mechanic for 32 years, retiring in 1998 with the 190th Aerial Refueling Wing, he was also an auto mechanic for Plaza Standard where he would eventually meet the love of his life Laurie Pigg. He was a member of the Crestview United Methodist Church.
Survivors include a son, Dan (Melissa) Snider, Berryton; significant other for 32 years, Laurie Pigg, Topeka; his mother, Charlotte; brother, Dwain (Sherry) Snider all of Van Buren, MO; many nieces and nephews, his former wife, Pauline Snider, Carterton, England and beloved dog, Dolly.
He was preceded in death by his father and beloved dog, Rudy.
A memorial ceremony will be 10:30 am, Thursday, May 8 at Crestview United Methodist Church. Family will greet friends 10 am until service time at the church. Family and friends are welcome to gather at Starbucks, 1223 SW Wanamaker Rd #400, Topeka, KS Thursday, May 8 between 6 and 7 pm for a coffee cup salute. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
