Steven R. Blattner, 52, of Topeka, passed away June 17, 2009 at a Kansas City hospital.
He was born August 15, 1956 in Honolulu, Hawaii, son of Roy and Winona (Pieper) Blattner. Steve graduated from high school and attended college in California before moving to Kansas.
He spent the majority of his life in the Kansas City area. He worked for the Kansas City Star and for the last 17 years was an over the road truck driver, most recently for USF Holland, Kansas City, KS.
Steve enjoyed many hobbies including boating, motorcycles, ATV's and playing baseball. He enjoyed life to the fullest and had many friends.
He married Helen E. Bateson on August 12, 2006 in Shawnee, KS. She survives. Steve is also survived by a son, Brandon Blattner; and daughter, Sarah Blattner, both of Overland Park, KS; step-daughters, Tara Dunagan, Broken Arrow, OK, and Erika St.Julien, Eudora, KS; two sisters, Sharon Slater, Overland Park, KS and Stacey Kelsey of Bonner Springs, KS; three step-grandchildren; a niece and two nephews; one great niece and three great nephews. Steve will be greatly missed by the many friends he has made over the years.
Honoring his wishes, no memorial service is planned. Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
