Steven G. Long, 68, Kimberling City, MO, passed away Sunday, November 6, 2016.
He was born May 31, 1948, in Sabetha, Kansas, the son of Cliff and Ruth (Albee) Long. He graduated from Hiawatha High School in 1966. Steve served in the U.S. Navy.
Steve worked as a meter reader and journeyman lineman. He also served as assistant manager and business manager for IBEW Local 304. He retired in 2010 as the Executive Director of Human Resources after 43 years of service with Westar Energy.
He was a member of Elks Lodge No. 2505 in Kimberling City.
On March 11, 2005, he married Joleen at Lake Tahoe. She survives. Other survivors include: his daughter, Jennifer (Scott) Evans; Step-children: Derek Anguish and Danielle (Jeff) Coan; Grandchildren: Leah Evans, Cooper Evans, Kaylyn, Addisyn, Jace, Trenton and Kolden, and siblings: Gerriann Schroff, Mike (Denice) Long and Nancy Petty.
Steve was an avid fisherman, enjoyed hunting, and was a huge KU basketball fan. He also enjoyed cooking and grilling for everyone.
