Stephen Paul Boyce, 73, Topeka, passed away Monday, November 16, 2020. He is survived by his wife, Janice K. (Hedberg) Boyce. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harlan W. Boyce and Dorothy AnnaMarie (Gustason) Boyce, both of Urbandale, Iowa.
Steve was born in Fairfield, Iowa, but lived most of his younger days in Urbandale, Iowa, where he attended Urbandale High School and graduated from Des Moines Technical High School. He majored in Electrical Engineering at Iowa State University and later picked up a degree in Secondary Education from Winona State University in Minnesota.
The Rochester, Minnesota, area was Steve's home until recent years when he moved to Topeka. While in Rochester he enjoyed an interesting career wearing several different hats. His favorite was the teacher hat when he taught high school level sciences and Industrial Education. Steve loved learning himself and when he wasn't busy outside on some project, one could find him engrossed in nonfiction material, often college or professional level textbooks. He enjoyed a variety of musical genres, played trumpet, and sang in church choirs.
A strong, but soft-spoken man with an intelligent, creative mind, Steve will be missed by his many friends and family members.
