Spc. Isaiah"Zay" Denzel Lynn Flowers

October 18, 1997 — June 7, 2018

Spc. Isaiah "Zay" Denzel Lynn Flowers, 20, Fayetteville, NC, formerly of Topeka gained his Heavenly wings on June 7, 2018 from injuries due to a motorcycle accident.

Isaiah was born October 18, 1997 in Topeka the son of Eric Flowers and Wendy (Lynn) Flowers.

He graduated from Topeka High School in 2016. He was part of the Drum Line and Cruz Line for 3 years.

Isaiah enlisted in the Army May 31, 2016 and received his Airborne Wings October 14, 2016.
SPC Isaiah Flowers was a member of Charlie Battery, 2nd Battalion 319th Airborne Field Artillery, 82nd Airborne Division. Isaiah served as an Assistant Gunner in a M777A2 Howitzer Section. In December of 2016 he deployed to northern Iraq in support of Operation Inherent Resolve where he and his teammates provided accurate, lethal, and devastating Artillery fires which helped the Iraqi Security Forces defeat the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria out of the cities of Mosul and Tal Afar. Upon a successful redeployment to Fort Bragg, North Carolina Isaiah immediately went to work training and certifying on his howitzer weapon system. In early 2018 Isaiah took part in an intensive training cycle where he provided lethal and non-lethal artillery fires allowing the 2nd Brigade Combat Team to conduct multiple combined arms maneuver live fire exercises. In April Isaiah participated in one of the largest sea born deployments in 17 years to the Joint Readiness Training Center in Louisiana where he tirelessly trained in one of the most intense training exercises the unit had ever participated in.

Isaiah's awards include the Army Commendation Medal with Combat Device and Oak Leave Cluster, the Inherent Resolve Campaign Medal, the National Defense Medal, Army Service Ribbon, the Overseas Service Ribbon, and the Global War in Terror Service Medal. Isaiah has also earned the Combat Action Badge and Basic Parachutist Badge.

Isaiah flew by the seat of his pants living by his motto, "live life to the fullest and explore you only live once". He loved to "explore" any chance he got. Isaiah had a great relationship with his siblings and an extra special one with his youngest brother, Zane. Six years difference, but twins at heart. Isaiah hardly went anywhere without Zane.

He loved anything with wheels that went fast, learning to ride a bicycle without training wheels at 2 years old and riding his first motorcycle at 4 years old. He loved dirt bikes, street bikes, quads, NHRA Races and car shows. He enjoyed drawing and was a die-hard University of Alabama football fan.

Isaiah had a contagious smile, and a sense of humor that could make everyone's day better. Family was very important to him and with family and friends there were times shared that were referred to as "Only Isaiah" moments.

He is survived by his parents; a sister, Whitney Brooks; brothers, Zane Flowers, Tyre Horton, Dre Horton, Eric Flowers, Jr.; grandmother, Sherry (Moore) Lynn; grandfather, Daniel F. Lynn; many aunts, uncles, cousins, brothers and sisters in Arms and friends.
