Shizuko Smith
Shizuko "Smitty" J. Smith, 82, of Topeka, passed away May 20, 2008 in the care of Midland Hospice. She was born April 18, 1926 in Yokohoma, Japan.
She was preceded in death by her parents and older brother.
Survivors include a son Raphael "Ray" Smith and his life partner Nancy Streeter, Topeka; granddaughter Jennifer Thompson, her husband Keenan Thompson, and great grandson Kaden Thompson, Tempe, AZ; and two nieces, Tokyo, Japan.
Mrs. Smith was a tailor for several men's clothing stores and Dillard's. She enjoyed outings with her close friends to Kansas City Japanese and other Asian restaurants. She also enjoyed flowers and the fresh air on nice spring days.
She will be sorely missed by her family and friends.
Private funeral services were held.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be written to Stormont-Vail Foundation or Midland Hospice in the care of Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave. Topeka, KS 66604.
