Shirley V. Herberger, 70, of Lawrence, KS, passed away Tuesday, April 21, 2009.
She was born June 14, 1938 in Dover, Arkansas, the daughter of Gilbert and Evelyn "Dolly" (Yow) Sumners. She was a 1956 graduate of Dover High School. During her life, Shirley resided in Hays, KS, Dallas, TX, and Lawrence, KS.
While in Hays, Mrs. Herberger served as President of The Hospital Auxiliaries of Kansas, President of Hadley Hospital Auxiliary, was a Red Cross Volunteer, and an avid golfer.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Norma Jean Anderson. Survivors include three daughters and four grandsons; Evie Debic (Jean-Luc) and their sons, Mathieu and Stefan Debic of Richardson, TX, Teri Herberger (Angela Richmond) of Lawrence, KS, and Donna Gonzalez (Mauricio) of Carrollton, TX and her sons, Austin and Kyle Cooper; and former husband, Gene Herberger, Dallas.
Mrs. Herberger bequeathed her remains to the University of Kansas Medical Center. The family is welcoming guests at Teri's home in Lawrence from 2-5 p.m., Saturday, April 25, 2009. Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel is assisting the family.
