Shirley Naomi Neal, 74, of Topeka, passed away on Thurs., Feb 25, 2010 at her home. She was born on Oct. 2, 1935 in Wheaton, KS the daughter of Cloyd M. and Rose (Goodman) Henderson. She was a 1953 graduate of Topeka High School.
Shirley held many positions during her lifetime. She is most known for her love and work with antiques. She was a member of the Omicron Zeta Sorority and was a dedicated volunteer in the community. Shirley enjoyed time with friends and family.
She was married to Wm. H. Wood and they were divorced. In 1979, she was married to Donnie Neal in Topeka. He preceded her in death on July 27, 1990.
Shirley is survived by her daughter, Karlene Wood (Vince DeSandro), Colorado Springs; son, Dr. Robert Wood (Barbara), Topeka; sister's, Fern Spaulding and Carolyn Kinion, Topeka; grandchildren; Cooper Wood, Corey Wood, Paul DeSandro, Audrey DeSandro, Dr. Angela Ferguson, Trish DeSandro, Carrie DeSandro and a great-grandson, Jackson Ferguson.
Funeral services will be at 11:00AM, Tues. Mar. 2, 2010 at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 4746 SW 21st, Topeka. Burial will follow at the Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Shirley will lie in state after 3:00 p.m. at the Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. The family will greet friends on Mon. evening from 6 – 8PM. Memorial contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society or The American Lung Assoc.
