Shirley M. Fritz

December 5, 1932 — November 28, 2015

This morning my Grandma, Shirley Fritz, passed away in Perry, Kansas. She was 1 week away from her 83rd birthday. The Polasek family joined the Moore family in Kansas to celebrate Thanksgiving as we do every year. We all enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving feast together and shared many laughs as a family with Grandma. She enjoyed having her entire family together and loved watching us cook and laugh. She was a Mom, a Grandmother and a Great Grandmother and she enjoyed every minute of it.

Last night, Grandma lay in bed with her two daughters, Linda Moore and Lisa Polasek, by her side holding her hands and softly talking to her while she quietly passed in her sleep on November28th 2015. This morning I woke up and saw my Aunt Linda. Her eyes were red and her voice cracked as she told me, "Grandma, passed away." I replied, "I know." "Oh did you go see her last night?" Aunt Linda asked. To which I told her what I had experienced, "Last night something woke me up from my sleep. I opened my eyes and looked to my right side and I saw a Grandma, a much younger Grandma, standing by my bed. She had beautiful dark hair and was wearing a pretty black colored dress. I looked away from her to look around the room to make sure I wasn't dreaming and when I looked back she was gone. I am not sure what made me say it but I quietly whispered "Goodbye, Grandma" and right then I knew that she had passed. I check the time and it was 4:04am." Aunt Linda, began to cry and called her sister, my mom, into the room so I could tell her my story. Once I finished, we all hugged, and they both said they felt more at peace knowing she had moved on and said her "goodbyes."

Later this morning we were looking at all of Grandma's old photos and I came across an old photo of her and her husband, John Fritz, taken in 1955 when she was just 23 years old. "It's her, that's who I saw", I said. The woman I saw standing in my room was my Grandma when she was just 23 years old. This experience is one I will never forget and I believe she showed herself to me so that I could help bring peace to her family and especially peace to her two daughters so that they could know that her passing is not to be mourned, but something that we should celebrate! She wanted us to know that she is now 23 years old again, healthy, happy, and finally reunited with her husband and knowing those two I am sure they have already found the slot machines in heaven!

We love you Grandma, we miss you and can't wait to see you again one day!
- Love your entire family`
(This is the photo of her. This is who I saw standing next to my bed.)
