Shirley J. Phillips, 67, of Topeka, passed away peacefully Thursday, April 17, 2014. She was born February 20, 1947 in Junction City, KS, the daughter of William J. and Leola D. TenEyck Cooley.
Shirley graduated from Topeka High School in 1965. She was employed by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Kansas as a supervisor over claims for 38 years before retiring in 2006.
Shirley married Ronald G. Durston on November 13, 1965. They later divorced. She married Ralph R. Robinson in February, 1978. They later divorced. Shirley then married Michael B. Phillips on April 1, 1994. He survives. Other survivors include one son, Brad Durston of Kansas City, MO, one daughter, Tracy Robinson Alfrey of Topeka, eight grandchildren, one great-grandson, three sisters, Mary Jo Orester, Linda Soules, Carol Brownell and three brothers, Robert, Richard and Dennis Cooley. Shirley was preceded in death by one grandson, Blaine Alfrey.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Private inurnment will take place at a later date.
