Shirley Mae Dossett, 81, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, Sept. 8, 2011, at home.
She was born on Jan. 7, 1930, in Thermopolis, WY, daughter of Harold Lewis and Lorena Mae (Cooley) Haynes. Shirley was united in marriage to Glenn S. Dossett on May 4, 1952, in Jacksonville, IL; together they had five children.
She was a beloved wife of 59 years to Glenn, Topeka; and loving mother to Debra D. Carl, Topeka; Anne (Tim) Mahnke, Palmdale, CA; Lorena E. Horn, Oceanside, CA; David E. (Linda) Dossett, Topeka; and Sara B. (Joe) Ross, Merlin, OR. Shirley is also survived by her 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Evelyn B. Haynes, CO; and two brothers, David L. Haynes, CA; and Larry E. Haynes, UT.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2011, at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka. Her final resting place will be in the Garden of Peace at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery, Topeka. Memorials may be directed to Midland Care Hospice Services.200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, KS 66606 or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
