Shirley A. Larue

Shirley A. LaRue, 80, of Topeka, passed away on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at a Topeka care facility. She was born July 7, 1935 in Randolph, KS, the daughter of Darrel L. and Mable (Guthrie) Sloan. She graduated from Maple Hill High School in 1953.

Shirley was employed by Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Kansas and U.S.D. 501 before retiring in 2001.

Shirley married Alan McComas on December 24, 1953. They later divorced. She married Lynn LaRue. He preceded her in death in 1987. Survivors include her children, Rod Deon of Colorado, Steven McComas of Topeka, Michael McComas of Topeka and Debbie Adams of Tampa, FL, ten grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and her siblings, Carl Sloan, Darrell Sloan, Sharon Holmes and Bonnie Pennick all of Topeka.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 2, 2015 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery. Shirley will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. Sunday, November 1, 2015. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the CAT Association of Topeka, 1719 SW Gage Blvd., Topeka, KS 66604.
