Sheila Ryerson, 70, of Topeka, died Tuesday, May 28, 2013.
Sheila lived most of her life in Topeka, beginning in 1962 as a patient at The Menninger's Foundation, and, ending, in the caring environment of The Homestead of Topeka. Despite her illness, her days were full of adventure, laughter, mischief, and friendship. She never complained about the hand she was dealt. Sheila was an animal lover, artist, tennis player, social gadfly, and power shopper. She was always in love. She was married twice, the second time, very happily, to Tyler Hauk who sadly predeceased her in 2003. Sheila had an army of friends, who enjoyed and cared about her. She loved them all very much. A unique and sparkling spirit has left us and we will miss her beyond measure.
Sheila is survived by a brother, Anthony Ryerson, Jr., Vail, CO; three sisters, Nancy Ryerson, Milliken, Palm Beach, FL; Margaret Ryerson, Arlington, VA; and Mary Bauman, Los Angeles, CA; and eight nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 15, 2013, at Mount Hope Cemetery, Topeka. Memorial services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, June 15, 2013, at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, Topeka.
