Shawn Michael Ouellette

Shawn Michael Ouellette passed away on July 12, 2024 at the age of 45. He was a caring father, son, brother, and friend. Shawn was born July 26, 1978 in Cedar Vale, KS. He grew up in Topeka, KS, where he resided for the majority of his life. He received his Civil Engineering Technology Certification from Kaw Area Technical School in 2005 and later went on to receive his A.A.S. in Civil Design from Washburn University in 2007.

Shawn was an avid fisherman and could often be found on the docks of Lake Shawnee, although his favorite fishing spot was Otsego Lake in Michigan, where he spent many summers as a child. Shawn loved to read, especially science fiction and anything by Stephen King. His other hobbies included writing, drawing, and painting. He also enjoyed watching movies, spending time with his son, and making his friends laugh.

Shawn is survived by his son, Caden Ouellette; his mother, Sheryl Ouellette; and his siblings Robert (Grachenn) Schulte, Katherine Schulte, Elizabeth Buenfil, Lori (Daniel) Harrington, Jason Ouellette, Patti Ouellette-Spaeth, Kim Stegeman, John Ouellette, William Dykens, and Rose Armstrong. Shawn is preceded in death by his father, Tom Ouellette and his sister, Cindy Jones.

Cremation is planned. In honor of the family's wishes no services will be held. Penwell-Gabel Cremations, Funerals & Receptions, Topeka, Kansas is assisting the family.
