Sharon Kay (Lietz) Eulert, 89, Topeka, passed away Friday, June 11, 2021.
She was born May 20, 1932, in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Emil P. and Esther L. (Kasson) Lietz. Sharon attended St. John's Lutheran School and graduated from Topeka High School in 1950. She graduated from Stormont-Vail School of Nursing in 1953 earning her license as a registered nurse, and also attended Washburn University while in nursing school. She worked at Stormont-Vail Hospital, St. Francis Hospital, and later Kansas Neurological Institute, retiring in 1983 after 21 years of service. Sharon held various offices as a member of Stormont-Vail School of Nursing Alumni Association.
Sharon was a lifetime member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church where she was baptized in 1932, confirmation in 1946, and on July 20, 1952, she married Harold H.H. Eulert at the church, all with the Reverend George Hoyer presiding. She also a member of the St. John's Kantorei (choir).
She also held memberships with Contemporary Historical Vehicle Association (CHVA) and the Golden Spokes Car Club.
Survivors include two daughters, Denise L. Eulert, Carol J. Morgan (Kevin); son-in-law, Chris Johnson, all of Topeka; two grandsons, Colin C. Johnson, Eugene, OR and Ian S. Johnson, Topeka; and sister, Reta J. Hamilton, Bella Vista, AR.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold, daughter, Shirley A. Johnson, and sister, Lura Lee Dryer.
Sharon loved traveling with Harold and traveling with her sisters. She also enjoyed many activities with nurse friends and loved to be in the kitchen canning many kinds of fruits, vegetables and pickles.
Funeral services will be 10am Friday, June 18, 2021at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Topeka. Visitation will be 5-7pm Thursday, June 17, 2021 at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Stormont-Vail Foundation for the School of Nursing Scholarship Fund, 1500 SW 10th Ave, Topeka, KS 66604 or Music Fund at St. John's Lutheran Church, 901 SW Fillmore, Topeka, KS 66606 or Topeka Lutheran School Foundation, 701 SW Roosevelt St, Topeka, KS 66606.
