Sarah Jeanette (Galbraith) Fisher, 87, of Topeka, passed away on Sunday, July 23, 2017.
Sarah was born to the Reverend Howard and Rose (Valdez) Galbraith on October 27, 1929 in North Holston, Virginia. The family resided in Topeka during her childhood. In her youth, she was known for her lovely singing voice and Western yodel.
Bright, beautiful and artistic, she enjoyed babies, puppy dogs, politics and a glass of good Scotch.
She married Jack Fisher on August 6, 1948 and devoted her life to caring for her family.
Sarah and Jack moved to the Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio area in 1962 and retired to Topeka in 2004. Their years in Ohio were filled with hikes at Glen Helen, great friends and the adventure of farming in Medway.
She is survived by her husband, Jack Fisher, of Topeka; a daughter Deborah Johnston (Jack) of Edmond, Oklahoma; beloved granddaughters, Elise Ford (Tom) and Natalie Lea (Justin), of Texas; great-grandchildren, Will, Lainey, Lyla Rose and Alexa. She is also survived by siblings, Ruth Harrington, Eunice Smith and Karl Geiss of California, Paul Galbraith (Shirley) of Topeka, and James Galbraith (Pat) of Evansville, Indiana.
She was preceded in death by her son, Bruce B. Fisher; and a brother, David Galbraith.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at the Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Avenue, Topeka. Private burial will take place at a later date.
