Sandra D. Snyder, 76, of Lawrence, formerly of Topeka, passed away Monday, November 14, 2011.
Sandra was born July 29, 1935, in Hiawatha, daughter of John Ross and M. Marjorie (Streeter) Moyer. She married Gail A. Snyder on August 14, 1953, in Hamlin, KS.
Sandra was a kind and caring person. She opened her home to many foster children, was involved with TARC, Capper Foundation, and Sheltered Living. Sandra loved spending time with her family. She was an active member of Countryside United Methodist Church. Sandra loved to sing and play bridge, and was an active participant in community service work.
Sandra is survived by her children, Stephen B. Snyder and his wife Judy of Merriam; Sheryl D. Brann and her husband Michael of Lawrence; Dona S. Wahwassuck and her husband John of Topeka; and Christina M. Snyder of Topeka; seven grandchildren, Jessica Anderson, Stephen Snyder, Jason Snyder, Christopher Brann, Catherine Brann, Rikki Kluber, and Kaitlyn Kluber; three great-grandchildren, Landon, Clayton and Michaela; a soon to be great-grandson; a brother, James B. Moyer, Sidney, BC; special friend, cousin, and loving supporter, Bob Snyder; and her loving cat, Tasha.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Sue Bosserman, and brother, John Dirck Moyer.
Sandra will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 16, 2011, at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, Topeka, where the family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. that evening. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, November 17, 2011, at Countryside United Methodist Church, Topeka, with a private family inurnment at a later date.
