Sally L. Geelan, 80, of Topeka, passed away Saturday, February 8, 2014 at Midland Hospice House.
Sally was born February 4, 1934 in Topeka, the daughter of Harry and Ada (Stenger) Ihinger. She graduated from Topeka High School. She was a Secretary to the Coaching staff at Washburn University for 25 years. She later worked for the Kansas Legislature for 10 years, retiring in 1998.
She was a member of First Christian Church, Washburn Icabod Club, and the International Center of Topeka. She enjoyed volunteering at Doorstep and the Topeka-Shawnee County Public Library.
Sally was united in marriage to A. Lowell Geelan on September 6, 1952 in Topeka. He preceded her in death. Survivors include their daughter, Lisé (Lonnie) White, Meriden; grandchildren, Sera (Charlie) Shoemaker, Shaun (Aubrie) White; and great-grandchildren, Noah, Kellen and Camryn Shoemaker.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 10, 2014 at First Christian Church, 1880 SW Gage Blvd, Topeka. Due to inclement weather, private inurnment at Mount Hope Cemetery will be at a later date.
