Sally Ann Hayes

Sally Ann Hayes, 69, of Topeka, passed away on Friday, February 25, 2011 at her home. She was born July 5, 1941 in Topeka, the daughter of Merle and Matilda M. Binger Holbrook. She graduated from Topeka High School and attended Kansas State University.

Sally was employed as a bookkeeper and accountant for several different companies and the U.S. Coast Guard for most of her life. She was a member of the Tecumseh United Methodist Church. She was an avid KSU fan and loved being in the water and was a life guard.

Sally married William D. Hayes. He preceded her in death on March 7, 2010. Survivors include one son, Jason H. (Christy) Hayes of Topeka, two grandchildren, Jackson and Katelyn, one sister, Carolyn Thiel of Gypsum, KS, and her special friend and caregiver for the past five years, Tammy Jackson of Topeka.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will follow in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Sally will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
