Ruth Tucker

Ruth E. Tucker, of Topeka, passed away, Wednesday, August 17, 2005 on her 94th birthday at Aldersgate Village. She was born August 17, 1911 in Parkdale, Arkansas, the daughter of Thomas Wilson and Etta Katherine Porter Echols.

Ruth attended Henderson Brown College in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. She worked at Peacock Laundry for 12 years and was employed by the Topeka Police Department as a crossing guard for Quinton Heights Elementary for 6 years.

She married Raymond A Tucker, Sr., in1944 in Houston, TX. He died Feb. 8, 1975.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary Ann Steward and her husband Denny, and Julia Marsh both of Topeka; a son, Raymond A. Tucker, Jr., and his wife Sue, Salina, KS; a sister, Mary Gould, Levittown, NY; 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 20, 2005 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel in Topeka. Inurnment will be in Penwell-Gabel's Memorial Park Cemetery in Topeka.

The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m., until service time, Saturday August, 20, 2005 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel.
