Ruth M. "NeNe" Scott, 79, of Topeka, passed away on Thursday, May 20, 2010 at Midland Hospice House in Topeka. She was born on December 7, 1930 in Belle Plaine, MN to John and Ruth (Heuer) Kliefoth.
She had resided in Topeka since 1952. Ruth was employed by the State of Kansas as an accountant for the Kansas State Grain Inspection for 27 years before retiring in March of 1996. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and spent her time caring for her home, family, reading and enjoyed her daily newspaper crossword.
NeNe married Donald F. Scott on February 4, 1950 in East Union, MN. Survivors include children; Barbara Swisher of Topeka, Deborah (Jim) Edwards of Osage City, David (Jackie) Scott of Topeka and Diane (Jeff) Waltho of Lawrence, grandchildren; Chad Edwards, Julie Claiborne, Donald Scott, Jacob Swisher, Jonathan Waltho, Tyson Scott, Jena Waltho, nine great-grandchildren; and her siblings; Richard (Jan) Kliefoth of Burnsville, MN and Joan (John) Warner of Coon Rapids, MN.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at St. John's Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in Topeka Cemetery. Ruth will lie in state one hour prior to service time at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may given to St. John's Lutheran Church, 901 S.W. Fillmore St, Topeka, KS 66606. Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
