After 6 ½ years of missing her best friend and beloved husband and fighting with multiple illnesses, God saw fit to reunite Ruth with her husband on May 4, 2013 Mother Ruth Redmond fought a good fight. Ruth was born January 2, 1941 to the late James Brown & Sarah Sumpter who preceded her in death. Ruth was a member of St. Paul Church of God in Christ for 20 years under the leadership of The Late Pastor/Founder Wayne L. Franklin & District Missionary/First Lady Ethel Franklin, where she served as Pastor Aide President, Usher Board President, & Hospitality where she served faithfully. Mother Ruth Redmond has been a member of the River of Life Church of God in Christ for 4 years under the leadership of Pastor Sam Frazier & First Lady Diahann Frazier where she served on the Mother Board.
Ruth united in holy matrimony with the Late Kelly Redmond on March 1, 1958 who preceded her in death. She worked as a Certified Medication Aide for Brighton Place West Nursing Facility for over 40years until she retired due to health reasons.
Cherishing her memories include two daughter Juanita Redmond of Independence, MO, Ann McCoy of Fayetteville, NC. One step Mother Verna Mae Brown, McCory, AR. Three sisters Lettie Marie Sumpter, Betty Jean Brown, Hazel Nicholas and one brother LJ Cooper who preceded her in death. Three sisters Doris Sumpter, Detroit, MI, Barbara Jean Terry, Detroit, MI, Gladys Trip, Hot Springs, AR. One brother Ernest Sumpter, Detroit, MI. Six grandchildren Zakiyyah Robbins Clarksville, TN, Juantario McDonald Topeka, KS, Antuan Barefield(Paige) Independence, MO, LaShan Brown , Troy Williams(Charisma) Fayetteville, NC, and Adrian McCoy(LaToya) Brooklyn Park, MN, and a host of great grandchildren and nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Mother Ruth Redmond will lie in state after 2:00 pm, Friday, May 10th at Penwell-Gabel Mid- Town Chapel where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm that evening. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday May 11th at River of Life Church of God in Christ.
