Ruth Bernice Kinkaid passed away April 4, 2009 in Topeka. She was born June 8, 1921, at Rantoul, Kansas, to John Dennis and Bessie L. (Cromer) Kinkaid. She graduated from Rantoul High School in 1939 and from Ottawa University in 1952. Miss Kinkaid taught school in Kansas from 1940 until 1958, when she moved to Aurora, Colorado, to teach until retirement. She received her master's degree in education from the University of Denver. In 1986, Miss Kinkaid moved back to Kansas, residing first in Ottawa and then in Topeka. In 2002, she moved to the York Square Unit of Aldersgate Village. She resided there happily until her death.
Throughout her life Miss Kinkaid was active in the Christian Church and Alpha Delta Kappa professional sorority
Miss Kinkaid is survived by several nephews and nieces, including John L. (Karen) Reedy of Topeka.
A memorial service will be held in the York Square Unit of Aldersgate Village on Wednesday, April 8 at 3:30 p.m. Private burial will be held at Mount Hope Cemetery.
