Ruth J. Reineman, 62, of Topeka, passed away Friday, October 10, 2014, at Rolling Hills. She was born October 19, 1951, in Austin, Texas, the daughter of Howard and Laura Lee (Weddle) Reineman.
Ruth was passionate about the beauty of the world. She admired and appreciated all things related to nature and had studied horticulture and botany. She could identify most any tree, plant, wildflower, bird, or animal, even from a moving car.
Ruth was creative and artistic. She made the most beautiful floral arrangements, loved to quilt and embroider, and do all manner of needlework. She loved to draw and collected original artworks and antiques, and had a great knowledge of both.
Ruth loved people and wanted to be everyone's friend. She always remembered people's names and would say "hi" whenever she saw a familiar face. Friendship meant a great deal to her and she loved to meet new people and have "conversations". She could find common-ground with any person, which was a true gift.
Throughout the many challenges that life brought Ruth's way, her faith was her centerpiece. She was a very special person who "just kept going". But more than anything, she loved her two nephews, Matthew and Brett.
Ruth is survived by her brother, Earl (wife Tammy) Reineman; and nephews, Matthew and Brett Reineman. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Ruth was cremated and at her request no local services will be held. Inurnment will be in Carson Cemetery in Ector, Texas, at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made in Ruth's name to Friends of the Topeka Zoo, 635 SW Gage Boulevard, Topeka, Kansas 66606. Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel is assisting the family.
