Ruth Aleene Gamber, 91, Topeka, died Sunday, October 23, 2005 at a Topeka retirement community.
She was born February 23, 1914 in Valencia, the daughter of Lloyd and Julia Schoebel Miller. She graduated from Greely County Community High School in Tribune and the University of Kansas.
Mrs. Gamber, a long time Topekan, taught at State Street Elementary School for more than 25 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Delta Zeta Sorority, Alpha Delta Kappa Education Sorority, and Topeka Retired Teachers.
She married Jesse E. Gamber on March 27, 1937 in Kansas City, Kansas. He died October 27, 1952.
Survivors include two daughters, Jeanne Elder and Elizabeth Gamber, and a son, John Gamber, all of Topeka; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, October 26, 2005 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will be in Lawrence Memorial Cemetery. Mrs. Gamber will lie in state after 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday.
