Ruth Marie Davidson

Ruth M. Davidson, 90, of Topeka passed away Thursday, February 20, 2020 at McCrite Health Center.
She was born January 17, 1930 to Jack and Minnie Cann. Ruth spent her early years in Oklahoma City. While attending Oklahoma State University, Ruth met the love of her life, Granville "Dave" Davidson. They were married January 29, 1949, in Oklahoma City. Dave's work as a US Department Agriculture Soil Conservationist took them to El Dorado, Sedan, Winfield and finally Topeka. Ruth was a devoted wife and mother who efficiently managed a household while working as an insurance secretary, and then file clerk in the Topeka Statehouse. In retirement, Ruth and Dave enjoyed traveling and were proud to have visited all 50 states. Ruth especially cherished her grandchildren and eagerly celebrated their accomplishments to any audience.
Ruth was Preceded in death by Dave in 2016, and two grandsons, Alex Donovan and Hadley Davidson.
She is survived by her children, Dr. Terry (Ann) Davidson, Newton; Donna Donovan, Topeka; five grandchildren, Myles and Sam (Bo) Davidson, Ryan (Annie), Andrew (Tara) and Molly Donovan.
Ruth made life-long friendships in all home locations, the Topeka YMCA coffee group, and finally her Prairie Trace Neighbors. The family is most thankful for the McCrite Staff who provided Ruth with watchful care and treasured relationships in her final years.
A Celebration of Life reception for Ruth will be held Saturday, March 7th, 1:30 to 3:30 pm at McCrite Plaza, 1610 SW 37th St., Topeka, KS 66611. Memorial Contributions may be offered for McCrite Plaza. Penwell-Gabel, Topeka is assisting with final arrangements.
